Black Golak
Couple of years ago, a young Sikh cook died due to health reasons in Geneva, Switzerland. He was alone at that time. He was found dead in his small studio by the police after more than a week when neighbors complained of smell. He left behind his old parents in Punjab.
On the following Sunday fellow punjabis were trying to collect funds to send his body back as well as some help to the old parents who lost their only son.
This is where the idea of “Black Golak” comes in to help such incidents. Black Golak could be a small donation box lying next to the main “Golak” in the gurdwaras where one can leave some small change from their pockets. As and when a need arises then this money can be used for cremation and helping the families of the deceased.
