Sangat Jio,
Before we start, lets see what others have to say or have said before us.
“Parbandhaks are dishonest, have no integrity and are untrustworthy. They have no concerns whatsoever with Gurmat. Their only interest is to stick on to being Parbandhaks and collect money. This stampede of anti-Gurmat activities allows them to achieve both aims.” – Gurbachan Singh Panwa, Jaggon Tervian, (Punjabi) Ludhiana: Doaba Graphics, pg 42-45
“Being self-serving, our parbandhaks are incapable of acting according to Gurmat…Their egocentric traits have turned Gurdwaras into businesses… They think of themselves as lords who rule over helpless granthis and ragis… they create and strive on conflicts within sangats. The have failed miserably, indeed…” – Sant Singh Maskeen, Desh Videsh Dey Gurduarian Da Parbhandkee Dhancha Atey Parcharak Shareni, (Punjabi), Amritsar: Singh Brothers. See Introduction, Pp 39, 41
Now imagine the Gurdwara Parbandhak committees are opening the donation box and they see a lot of bills/notes of any currency. they happily start sorting the bills before the coins. As they unfold the bills and will end up reading your message. It can be ignored once or twice but not for ever especially if more and more people use message dollars to convey their their wished to the parbandhaks.
Our suggestion to the Sangat is as follows:
- Print/photocopy one side of a bill (especially a US Dollar) and cut it to size 156x66mm.
- On the back side write your message to the Parbandhak committees and/or members
- Now fold the bill in to half to hide the message and give a second fold to make sure the parbandhaks spend time & energy to open them.
Hit the Parbandhak committes where it hurts them the most (MONEY)!
